Risk chooses Skillweb to tackle security sector challenges


Risk Management Security Services has chosen Skillweb’s leading security guard software to help it tackle the challenges currently facing the sector. With customers progressively demanding a higher level of reporting transparency and the industry placing more rigorous regulations on firms, Risk has elected to use SmartTask Attend for Security and Mobile Guarding to boost operational visibility and accountability.         Tiras Turner, control centre manager at Risk Management Security Services, stated: “Customers require a higher degree of proof of what we do in terms of vehicle tracking reports and confirmation of patrols for insurance purposes etc. Adherence to current British standard regulations can [also] be costly and from time to time unclear or open to individual company interpretation, based on audit by different regulatory bodies such as the NSI [National Security Inspectorate] and SIA [Security Industry Association]. “SmartTask helps to provide real-time reporting that has a greater degree of accuracy and allows for the transparency our clients need. [It also] allows the control team to measure and confirm actions taken by officers in the field on a live basis.” SmartTask Attend: Standards, professionalism and accountability SmartTask Attend for Security and Mobile Guarding is a proof of attendance solution that sends up-to-the-second data to businesses about the location of security staff, their rounds and places visited. Using mobile phone technology and NFC tags to track operatives during their rounds, the solution also acts as a point of lone worker security. Guards just swipe their mobile phones over a tag/label unique to a site, registering their attendance. They are then able to access risk assessment and site specific data at the point of scan. Simplifying the storage and distribution of risk assessments to security guards enables them to access assessments when entering a site or zone, enhancing lone worker protection. Accountability of security firms is also secured through the new Customer Portal, which enables end users to see when a guard patrols their site and what actions have been taken. “The individual customer’s ability to go into the system and view their own reports will improve customer relations and save time for the control team,” Mr Turner explained.         What’s more, the solution has been recognised as a cost saving tool, which will prove vital as the fiscal crisis continues to affect businesses across the UK. The ability to download SmartTask to a worker’s phone reduces the costs of providing a different device, while the portal lowers the time spent by security firms dealing with the administrative task of compiling data about the activities of guards. These capabilities will prove crucial as the SIA calls for a focus on “standards, professionalism and accountability”.
